Introduction to Majors

Materials Science and Engineering

        There are three main research fields in this discipline: materials science, materials processing and engineering, and material corrosion and protection. Among them, materials science is to design and develop high-performance composite materials with nano-size polymers, ceramics, and metals as continuous phases, and (micro) nano-size metals and non-metals, rigid particles, whiskers (fibers), graphene and other modifiers as dispersed phases, material processing engineering is based on the external form, internal structure, and performance of materials, focusing on the corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance, and other functional characteristics of materials in special working conditions, and carrying out material surface interface structure design, performance control research and material processing and molding technology development, and material corrosion and protection is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary discipline combining materials science with physics, chemistry, nanoscience, and engineering technology, mainly focusing on the key technical issues of material corrosion and protection in the fields of new materials, new energy, chemical industry, electronic information, nuclear technology, and other industries, and carrying out the development of new anti-corrosion materials and technologies based on the research of corrosion electrochemical mechanism.

 

Materials and Chemical Engineering

        This major adheres to interdisciplinary integration and development and has built national first-class undergraduate majors such as materials science and engineering, and chemical engineering. The research and teaching team has a full-time and part-time faculty team with reasonable age, education, and professional title, and can be fully qualified for postgraduate education, and more than 80% of the full-time teachers in the major have doctoral degrees. Relying on scientific research platforms such as “National Chenguang High-performance Fluorine Materials Innovation Center” and “Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Material Corrosion and Protection”, and about 40 enterprises and institutions, such as Zhonghao Chenguang Chemical Research Institute Co., Ltd. and the Second Research Institute of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, more than 200 graduate students every year can join the factory training.
