Materials Science and Engineering
The major was formerly known as the Corrosion and Protection major, which began enrolling students in 1977 when the national college entrance examination was resumed. It is one of the earliest and most distinctive undergraduate majors in our university.In 1999, when the national undergraduate major directory was adjusted, it was renamed as the Materials Science and Engineering major. It is a national-level comprehensive reform pilot major, a Sichuan-specific major, and a pilot major for the "Excellent Engineer Training Plan" in Sichuan Province. In 2019, it was successfully selected as one of the first national-level first-class undergraduate majors.
Polymer Materials and Engineering
This major is a first-class undergraduate major approved by the Ministry of Education in Sichuan Province. This major cultivates a solid foundation of natural science knowledge and professional knowledge related to polymer materials, with innovative spirit and practical ability. It can engage in new product development, characterization technology, process optimization design, technological transformation, and production and operation management in the field of polymer materials. It has comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, strong social adaptability, and a solid foundation, High quality applied talents with innovative spirit and practical ability. It is also suitable to continue pursuing graduate studies in materials related majors, chemistry, interdisciplinary fields, and other related fields.
Inorganic Non-metallic Material Engineering
This major has a long history of education and is a first-class major at the school level. This major is based on the national development strategy of new engineering and new materials, as well as the relevant needs of local industrial economy. It is based in Sichuan, serves the southwest, faces the whole country, and has a global perspective, serving the local economy, Sichuan industrial development, and national strategic needs. It cultivates high quality engineering applied talents who can engage in the process and engineering design, technological development and transformation, production and management of advanced inorganic non-metallic materials, as well as the comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetics, strong social adaptability, solid foundation, innovative spirit, and practical ability.
New Energy Materials and Devices
This major is geared towards the strategic needs of China’s new energy, new materials, new energy vehicles, energy conservation and environmental protection, and high-end equipment manufacturing. It mainly studies the testing techniques and analytical methods for the composition, structure, and performance of new energy materials, and develops new generations of high-performance green energy materials, technologies, and devices. It is a strategic emerging major that integrates energy science, materials science, physics, chemistry, electronics, and machinery, and features energy conversion and storage materials and device design and preparation engineering technology.The students trained in this major have a solid foundation in natural sciences and expertise in materials science, chemistry, and other related disciplines. They have innovative spirit and practical abilities, and are able to engage in new material development, material preparation, characterization technology, process optimization design, technical transformation, and production and management capabilities in materials, new energy, chemistry, and other related fields.
