Introduction to Arts
This course is primarily designed to enhance students' knowledge of art theory and improve their artistic taste and aesthetic ability. Teachers are required to introduce examples in the Chinese and foreign art history, so that students can substantiate art theories with art examples and explain art examples with art theories, thus mastering some of the most basic art concepts and propositions, and laying a preliminary theoretical foundation for art creation, art appreciation and art education.
Chinese Art History
This course is intended to introduce the history Chinese art at different historical stages in an attempt to discover the laws and clues of development. It aims to enable students to acquire a deeper knowledge of the development of Chinese art, have a more comprehensive understanding of the changes and evolution of Chinese art, explore the relationship between art and social history and other cultural phenomena, deepen their insights into Chinese art, improve their aesthetic appreciation, and know how to cherish the cultural and artistic heritage of mankind.
Classical Oil Painting Language
Combined with the study of art history, this course is intended to introduce the basic concepts and aesthetic spirit of classical oil painting language from a theoretical point of view, and illustrate the basic steps and special techniques of classical oil painting from a practical point of view. Students are cultivated to have a systematic and complete experience of the aesthetic spirit of classical oil painting, lay a good foundation for realistic painting through the practice and training in the language of classical oil painting, and pave the way for the subsequent courses in this field.
Figure Painting
This course focuses on the study and research of the basic knowledge, basic techniques, characteristics and steps of the Chinese figure painting. Practice involves copying ancient and modern figure paintings, as well as sketching figures. This course will enable students to have a strong practical ability in sketching the figure, as well as a preliminary ability in artistic thinking and artistic expression of the figure.
Realistic Sculpture
It is an important skill course intended for the sculpture program, designed to provide theoretical knowledge of the human clay figure; through life drawing training, students, with strong clay art skills, will be able to accurately capture modeling dynamics, proportion and structure, thus gaining basic knowledge and skills for realistic sculpture and sculpture creation courses.
Landscape Painting
This course focuses on how to construct the ontological spirit and formal language of Chinese landscape painting, so that students can transform their limited brush and ink experience into infinite life experience and become full of the pioneering and innovative spirit that embodies orientalist ideology and academic caliber.
Fashion and Costume Design
History of Chinese and Western Costume
This course theoretically focuses on the history of Chinese costume and the history of Western costume, aiming to enable students to understand that clothing, which is inseparable from human beings, functions as an important psychological and social symbol, representing an individual’s social status, occupation, self-confidence and other personal characteristics at different times, so that they can better understand the roots of the changes in clothing, to promote their esthetic attainment, enhance their ability to analyze and predict the development trend of clothing, accumulate sources of inspiration for future design creation and develop artistic thinking and artistic expression.
Fashion Painting Techniques
It is a fundamental course for the direction of fashion design and engineering, which enables students to understand and draw fashion images, improve their basic modelling ability and artistic aesthetic power, and establish certain artistic expression concepts and techniques, laying the foundation for future expression of ideas in fashion design and engineering.
Fashion Design Development
It is a fundamental course, both theoretical and practical, which will enable students to master the fabric categories for costume design, color schemes, fashion trends and industrialized garments.
Costume Material Science
This course is intended to study clothing fabrics, accessories and related textile fibers, yarns, fabric structure and performance, the relationship between structure and performance, and knowledge of the classification, identification and care of clothing material. The aim of this course is to understand one of the three major elements of costume design, and know about the source, structure, varieties, performance, application, and development of costume materials, providing a good foundation for other courses required for the fashion program.
Costume Structure Design
It is a fundamental course for costume and fashion design. It deals theoretically with the basic knowledge of garment graphic modeling, modeling rules and methods; it involves practical hands-on training in garment graphic modeling to lay the foundation for subsequent courses. The course will enable students to develop strong practical skills in garment graphic modeling, and abstract ability in artistic thinking and expression.
Three-dimensional Tailoring
This course focuses on the basic operation and advanced application of three-dimensional tailoring. It enables students to build up the theory and practical operation of the three-dimensional modeling of costume structure design, so as to understand the expression of the clothing tailoring, and manage diversified techniques for the expression of clothing tailoring.
Garment Craftsmanship and Production
This course focuses on the basic techniques required for garment making, craftsmanship and process flow for basic garment styles. It enables students to build up the basic knowledge and theoretical basis prescribed for garment production, so that they are able to operate garment production and select the basic processing schemes.
Costume Accessory Design
This course is one of the compulsory courses for the costume design pathway. It enables students to understand and master the basic cultural knowledge and skills required for costume and accessory design, providing a good foundation for garment design.
Environmental Design
History of Modern Design
This course covers the origins, evolution, highs and lows of modern design, as well as the main trends in contemporary design development. The aim of the course is to enable students to understand the design schools, design styles, famous designers and the characteristics of their works in modern design history. The course focuses on developing students' theoretical qualities, catching the tide of design development, laying a good theoretical foundation for their professional career development and improving their ability in design appreciation.
Modern Design Methodology
This course covers the investigation, analysis, design expression, design evaluation, and systematic design related to modern design. Modern design methodology is primarily aimed at cultivating students' design thinking, constructing theoretical system, innovating design methods, improving engineering quality, enriching design program, enhancing social service consciousness and providing a good methodological basis for future design application and theoretical research.
Ergonomics
This course focuses on the study of people and their interaction with machines and environments, providing scientific theories and quantitative basis for people to realize their goals. Interior and landscape design is a practice to meet people's production and living needs through the arrangement of interior furniture and furnishings, indoor physical environment, visual environment and landscape accessories.
Decorative Materials and Construction Workmanship
This course aims to enable students to know about the performance of decorative materials, the design capacity of decorative structures and other basic theories and applications, update information about interior decoration, and develop the ability to analyze and solve practical problems using state-of-the-art technologies. It intends to cultivate multi-talented people in scientific research, process design, technology development and management of decorative construction.
Exhibition Space Design
Through the delivery of lectures on the theory, principles, contents and methods of exhibition design and the analysis of cases of actual exhibition and booth design, students will be able to understand the basic principles of exhibition design and design methods in terms of functional zoning, color, furniture, furnishings, lighting and interior interface design. It aims to cultivate students' ability in design thinking and design expression, with emphasis on the comprehensive ability in design application and technical implementation, as well as their independent, rigorous working style, team consciousness and professional ethics.
Furniture Design
This course is closely related to design, ergonomics, art, aesthetics, psychology, materials science, constitutology, economics, management and other disciplines. It focuses on the cultivation of creative thinking, aesthetic, design expression and practical skills. The study of furniture design aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the relationship between the human body, planar and three-dimensional, form and structure, material and processing while cultivating their design skills and creativity.
Hotel Interior Design
This course is intended to develop students' interior design skills in the hotel industry, creating unique and attractive hotel interiors through the study of space planning, color matching and furniture selection. Through case studies and hands-on design projects, the course will develop students' creativity, aesthetic sense and communication skills, laying the foundation for their career development in hotel interior design.
Garden Plants Landscaping and Design
This course delivers comprehensive information and basic knowledge in the identification of garden plants and landscaping applications, with emphasis on the study and practice of basic procedures and approaches to garden plant landscaping, to provide theoretical support for subsequent landscape design in terms of plant layout and scenic creation and to lay the foundation for future involvement in environmental design.
Park Landscape Design
This course provides practical experience in park landscape design following the completion of the basic landscape courses and part of the specialist courses, aiming to be familiarize students with the basic methods, concepts and forms of expression required for park design. It enables students to consolidate, deepen, integrate and extend the specialist knowledge they have acquired, and provide a good foundation for other subsequent design courses.
