Folk Lantern Culture Popularization Base

Approved by the Publicity Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the Sichuan Federation of Social Sciences, the Sichuan "Folk Lantern Culture Popularization Base" was inaugurated in July 2016.  Based at Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (School of Fine Arts) and supervised by the Zigong Federation of Social Sciences, it functions as a public cultural base dedicated to the transmission and promotion of the traditional culture of Chinese folk lanterns and the protection and study of intangible cultural heritage. In addition to cultivating talents in Zigong colored lantern design, it carries out various forms of cultural publicity and art promotion and participates in the protection, transmission and innovation of intangible cultural heritage in Zigong and southern Sichuan. Taking advantage of  the university’s talent cultivation and academic research, it carries out cultural investigation, theoretical study and cultivation of artistic newcomers, and assists local governments and social groups in local cultural research and mass cultural promotion, aiming to realize the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent Chinese traditional culture.
