The School of Automation and Information Engineering at Sichuan University of Science and Technology is one of the best schools, with more than 50 years of history. This college is one of the first undergraduate training centers of electronics and information in Sichuan Province and one of the first pilot colleges for building the “AI+ Intelligent Learning” Artificial Intelligence college project held by the Ministry of Education. The School of Automation and Information Engineering has more than 100 faculty and staff members, including 14 professors and 27 associate professors. Expert faculty members who are engaged in research and well respected in their fields will provide six disciplines for undergraduate students, including Automation Engineering, Electric Engineering and Automation, Communication Engineering, Biomedicine Engineering, Intelligent Science and Technology, and Intelligent Unmanned System and Technology. Among these disciplines, Automation is the National Specialty and one of the first outstanding national engineer training projects. It is also the demonstration application discipline of Sichuan Province. Electrical engineering and Automation are two of the outstanding engineering training project disciplines of Sichuan Province. Communication engineering is a national first-rate discipline. The college also offers graduate programs in Control Science and Engineering.   

Currently, the school has more than 2300 undergraduate, graduate, and international students. The school has one key subject at the provincial level, “Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems,” two key subjects at the university level, “Information and Communication Engineering,” “Control Science and Engineering,” and one key construction subject at the university level, “Electric system and Automation.” The school operates several outstanding research and teaching groups, including two Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation research groups and two outstanding teaching groups at the provincial level. The school has experimental instruments worth more than 40 million, an experiment center, and an engineering training center of more than 7000 m3. Among these laboratories, the Artificial Intelligence Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province was built in 2007 and is one of the early provincial-level key labs in artificial intelligence. The lab is preponderant in intelligent detection, intelligent information processing, and intelligent control and has cultivated more than ten generations of graduate students in artificial intelligence.

In recent years, the School of Automation and Information Engineering has undertaken more than ten projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, more than 70 projects at the provincial and department levels, and published more than 1000 journal papers, 40 books, and 20 patterns. Ten of these projects have won rewards at the provincial level, and 20 projects have won other rewards. Also, nine research achievements have been transferred to application, which has made great contributions to the economy and society.

The School of Automation and Information Engineering is always focused on the quality of teaching, especially the manipulative ability and the innovative spirit of students. The students in the school actively participate in all kinds of competitions, such as electric design competitions, mathematical modeling competitions, robot competitions, and model airplane competitions, achieving 50 national-level rewards and 120 provincial-level rewards. The graduated students are popular in the market, and the average employment rate in recent years has been over 95%. The school has cultivated more than 10,000 advanced technological and professional talents to society and made great contributions to the areas of electricity, Automation, communication, artificial intelligence, medical instruments, etc.
