The law education of Sichuan University of Science & Engineering began in 1994 with the law program of the school’s Department of Social Sciences. The School of Law was established in 2011, and the Intellectual Property School was established in 2014 when the Sichuan Intellectual Property Education and Training Base was inaugurated. The School of Law has 80 faculty members, including 9 professors, 26 associate professors and more than 30 doctoral degree holders. Two teachers are chief legal consulting experts of Sichuan Province; one teacher is a deputy of Yibin Municipal People's Congress; one teacher is a member of Zigong Municipal Political Consultative Conference; five teachers are non-permanent members of the Third Administrative Reconsideration Committee of Yibin Municipal People’s Government, two teachers are chief legal consulting experts of Yibin City, and two teachers have been awarded the title of outstanding arbitrators of Yibin City. Many of the teachers are part-time lawyers, arbitrators and social workers, and are employed as legal advisers or consulting experts of local party committees, people's congresses, governments, judicial organs, enterprises and public institutions and social organizations in Zigong City and Yibin City. The undergraduate education of the School of Law covers two disciplines: Law and Public Administration, and three undergraduate programs: Law, Administration, Labor and Social Security, and the graduate education has the right to grant the professional degree of Master of Law. There are more than 2000 full-time graduate students, undergraduates and international students in the school.

At present, the School of Law has one provincial research platform (Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of Sichuan Law Society), one provincial training base (Intellectual Property Talent Training Base of Sichuan Province), two provincial department-level research platforms (Grassroots Judicial Ability Research Center, Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities of Sichuan Province, and Liquor Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of Yibin City Law Society ). In recent years, the School of Law has presided over more than 70 scientific research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, published more than 400 academic papers, more than 20 works, and won more than 30 awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level. The School of Law attaches great importance to the transformation of scientific research results, research reports and consulting reports are widely adopted and applied, and socialized training is routinely carried out. The School of Law has become an important think tank serving local development.

All the faculty and students of the School of Law adhere to the school motto of “profound virtue for science, hard work for engineering”, carry forward the “652” spirit of “bearing in mind the world's home and national feelings, assuming the mission of who is not me, and constantly striving to forge ahead”. Under the guidance of the school's development strategy of “combining research and learning, integrating production and education, and developing characteristics”, we are striving to create a high-level law school with distinctive characteristics and outstanding advantages.
