From October 16 to 17, 2024, a delegation of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE) conducted a two-day friendly visit to Ho Chi Minh City Transport University, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Rail Management Committee, Operation Company of Line 1 Metro, and other related organizations in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Vietnamese higher education institutions and construction management entities, promoting in-depth collaboration between both parties in areas such as education and research.
On October 16, during the visit to Ho Chi Minh City Transport University, the delegation had in-depth exchanges with Vice President Nguyen Anh Tuan and other leaders or teachers, and visited the school's experimental teaching facilities. Both parties discussed the implementation details of cooperation models such as reciprocal visits by faculty and students, joint training programs, and collaborative research to further deepen academic exchanges and cooperation between the two institutions. They also had an in-depth discussion on the feasibility of jointly establishing an International Research Center for Rail Transit Engineering. Preliminary consensus was reached on key issues such as the future operational mechanisms, research directions, and division of labor between both parties. At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged inter-institutional cooperation memorandums, marking a new phase in their cooperative relationship.
On October 17, the delegation visited the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Rail Management Committee and the Operation Company of Line 1 of Ho Chi Minh Metro for exchanges. The talks mainly focused on cooperation matters between SUSE and the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Rail Management Committee, with particular emphasis on the feasibility of establishing an internship and training base at Sichuan University of Science and Engineering to meet the operation and maintenance management needs of Line 1 of the Ho Chi Minh Metro, as well as the specific implementation plan for a targeted talent training program in the rail transit field for Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation conducted on-site inspections of the construction sites of the vehicle segment and Gaoxin Station of Line 1 of the Ho Chi Minh City Metro, focusing on understanding the excellent experiences in construction, management, and operation and maintenance, as well as the future technical needs.
This visit yielded fruitful cooperation outcomes, laying a solid foundation for deeper cooperation between Sichuan University of Science and Engineering and Vietnamese universities and construction management units. In the future, both sides will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation to jointly promote high-quality collaboration and development in education and scientific research.
The members of the visiting delegation included Dean Liao Yinghua from the School of Civil Engineering, Deputy Dean Liu Zhongbin and Deputy Dean Wang Chun from the School of Mechanical Engineering, teachers Yang Yanxin and Ruan Wende from the School of Civil Engineering, and teacher Yu Yang from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange.
