In order to enhance the summer vacation experience of international students in Yibin, facilitate cultural exchanges between China and other countries, and promote a deeper understanding of China and Chinese culture among international students in Yibin, the 2024 Summer Interaction Event for International Students in Yibin was successfully held in the multifunctional building of Yibin Campus of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE) on the afternoon of July 24th, under the support of relevant departments in Yibin. Wang Songsong, Deputy Secretary General of the Yibin Municipal Government, attended the event. The event hosted by Mr. Yang Dehong of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and International College of SUSE was attended by Chinese teaching staff from SUSE,Yibin University and Yibin Polytechnic College, as well as representatives of international students in China.

Luo Chunyan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office at Yibin University, delivered a speech on behalf of the teaching staff. She extended a welcome to international students who had selected Yibin as their destination for further studies. She expressed the hope that the overseas students would succeed in acquiring a good command of the Chinese language and a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. She encouraged them to adopt a global perspective and act as a bridge for fostering Sino-foreign exchange and collaboration while making contribution to their home countries upon their return.

International students from 17 countries, including Laos, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia, Brazil, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Mongolia, participated in the event. The Laotian students presented traditional and contemporary dances, as well as a Chinese song entitled "Ten Years". They also shared their experiences of studying in China and their feelings about studying Chinese. The Vietnamese students presented the Chinese dance "Falling Flowers".  The Kazakh students recited the poem "Three Kinds of Happiness".  The Russian students sang the song "Mother at Home". The Brazilian students sang the song "Chico". The Uzbek students played the violin piece "Lovers in Flight".

In the subsequent discussion, Wang Songsong observed that if the students has attained a high level of proficiency in the Chinese language in Yibin and developed an understanding of China's accelerated economic growth and its traditional culture, they can certainly tell China's stories, spread China's voice, and contribute to exchanges between China and other countries. He extended his best wishes to all international students for a bright future.

The overseas students' participation in the event has enabled them to have a more profound understanding of the notion that "civilization becomes more vibrant through exchange and is enhanced through mutual learning." Finally, the international students all expressed their gratitude to China for providing valuable opportunities to study abroad in China and their intention to improve their Chinese language skills and to disseminate the knowledge they had acquired about China's rapid development and advanced culture to a broader international audience, thereby contributing to the continuity of Sino-foreign relations.
