Delegation headed by Vice Chancellor of the University of Chester visits SUSE for academic exchanges

As the date of Grain Rain(Chinese traditional 24 solar terms) comes to an end and summer approaches, we are treated to the sight of thousands of flowers blooming in the evening sunshine. With summer drawing nearer , Sichuan University of Science  and Engineering (SUSE) is delighted to welcome both new and old friends who have travelled from afar.

From 22 to 23 April, David McGravie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chester, UK, and Kurt Allman, Vice-Chancellor, led a delegation of nine individuals to visit SUSE. The visiting guests were warmly received by Yan Jie and Luo Huibo, Vice president of SUSE.

On the morning of the 22nd, the hosts and guests held a discussion at Conference Room 424 of the Administration Building on the Yibin Campus of SUSE. The meeting was chaired by Luo Huibo.

Mr. Yan Jie delivered a welcome address on behalf of SUSE. He stated that SUSE has had a long-standing and close relationship with Chester, and that through mutual visits, we have enhanced our mutual understanding and established a profound friendship. A long-term collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship has been established, and a cooperation agreement has been signed regarding the implementation of teacher training and student exchange programs. During the visit, the British side has brought back a complete copy of the cooperation agreement and a copy of the articles of association, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the partnership. Yan Jie provided an update on the current progress of the teachers and students programs, the "5+1" industrial clusters in Yibin city, one of the locations of SUSE, and the development of industry-education integration.

David McGravie, who had visited SUSE for the second time, stated that the primary purpose of his visit is to conduct on-site inspections. Additionally, representatives from pertinent cooperative domains came together with the objective of exemplifying Chester's sincerity and assurance in collaboration. He believed that the preceding collaboration between the two parties had established a foundation for more profound cooperation in the future. Moreover, the advancement of Yibin's industry, particularly the settlement of high-quality enterprises, provided a favorable environment for cooperation and offered robust support for the prospective growth and success of students.

Kurt Allman, who is responsible for science, business, and enterprise management activities, was anticipating the opportunity to engage in face-to-face communication with outstanding educators and students during his visit. This would allow him to obtain the developments regarding programs and to finalize curricular details for future program cooperation, which are expected to align more closely with the cooperative objectives of both parties.

Following the meeting, the delegation from the University of Chester, accompanied by Luo Huibo, visited three campuses of SUSE and conducted on-site inspections of several schools that were about to embark on cooperation. During the visit, they visited laboratories, viewed high-quality project demonstrations, listened to project briefings presented by teachers and students. They were also directly engaged in classroom activities, which were marked by instances of joyful laughter.

Also in attendance were heads of departments and colleges of SUSE, including the Administrative Office, Teaching Affairs Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Development and Planning Office, Science and Technology Office, Human Resources Office, Library, School of Chemical Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Automation and Information Engineering, School of Management, School of Biological Engineering and School of Fine Arts.
