Sima Weiping, a professor with Ph.D. in Municipal Engineering and a master tutor,  is engaged in the research of water pollution control and wastewater treatment technology, ecological treatment technology for sewage in small town, sludge treatment and resource utilization. He has presided over 8 projects including the project of NSF and Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province and published more than 60 papers in RSC Advances, Water Science and Technology.
