School of Civil Engineering was founded in 1985. There are 95 faculty members, including 82 full-time instructors and 38 teachers with doctoral degrees (including doctoral students). Master’s degrees and doctor’s degrees account for 80%. More than 80% of the teachers have a “double-qualified” background. The teaching staff includes the reserve candidates for academic and technical leaders of Sichuan Province, the academic and technical leaders (reserve) of Zigong City, “Zigong Science and Technology” vice president of Jiangsu Science and Technology, “652” scholars of the University and other outstanding talents. The school now has three teaching departments, one civil engineering experiment center, and one science and technology innovation center for the students. Master students in building materials in materials and chemical engineering are recruited in the school. There are four undergraduate majors in civil engineering, engineering cost, water supply and drainage science and engineering, and intelligent construction. The major of Civil Engineering is the first-class major in Sichuan Province and the excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, which is also the only undergraduate enrollment major in deep poverty and rural revitalization in Sichuan Province. The major of engineering cost and water supply and drainage science and engineering is the advantageous major of Sichuan Province. The major of civil engineering and engineering cost is both the second bachelor’s degree registered by the Ministry of Education. There are more than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the school.

Adhering to the university motto “Moral, rational, inspirational, diligent” and school motto “Moral, diligent, knowledgeable, responsible,” combined with the school’s positioning and school-running characteristics and guided by the construction of civil water conservancy discipline, the school aims at cultivating high-quality civil water conservancy professionals with good engineering ethics and academic ethics. The school has established the Key Laboratory of bridge non-destructive testing and engineering calculation of universities in Sichuan province, BIM / BQIM Technology Research Center, a joint laboratory of Sichuan University of Science ＆ Engineering and BIZHAO Of Environmental Geotechnical Engineering Company, Sichuan CHUANLI Design Institute, Geological Disaster Research Institute, and other scientific research platforms. Focusing on civil engineering and municipal engineering, we have cultivated several research teams in structure health monitoring and digital risk management, geological disaster monitoring and early warning soil quality improvement and restoration, water treatment and resource utilization, and whole process consultation. Therefore, the scientific research capacity and the level of local services have been greatly improved. In the past three years, the school has undertaken more than 80 scientific research projects, including 12 provincial and ministerial-level projects, with adequate research funds of more than 10 million yuan. Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize for excellent papers in the first Sichuan-Chongqing Science and Technology Academic Conference, and two municipal science and technology awards were awarded. Six monographs have been published, and more than 60 SCI / EI and other high-level scientific research papers have been published.61 patents were authorized, including 16 invention patents, and 10 patent achievements were transformed by enterprises.
