About Us

The demand for bioengineering skills in the twenty-first century has guided the development of School of Biological of Engineering and Wuliangye Liquor over the past forty years. It follows the "integration of production and education" talent training philosophy and has developed a teaching orientation around food, papermaking, and brewing. It serves as Sichuan Province's talent training center for bioengineering undergraduates, offering six undergraduate degrees including bioengineering, brewing engineering, food science and engineering, light chemical engineering, food quality and safety, and biotechnology. The faculty comprises over 130 members, including 77 teachers with doctoral degrees, 3 doctoral supervisors, 65 master supervisors, 2 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, 5 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province and their reserve candidates, 1 outstanding expert with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province, and 1 person who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council. With "Cultivating morality and fostering talents" as its overarching goal, the school seeks to develop students' capacity for invention, their capacity for engineering practice, and their overall quality and ability. It is regarded as the "cradle of Chinese liquor talent training" and has produced over 40 exceptional talents, including National Brewing Masters and National Baijiu judges.

The school has established a number of high-caliber teaching and research platforms, including the China Ecological Brewing Industry Technology Research Institute, the Sichuan Province Brewing Biotechnology Engineering Technology Research Center, the Sichuan Province Brewing Special Grain Engineering Technology Center, the Sichuan Academician (Expert) Workstation for Solid-state Brewing Key Technology Research, the Sichuan Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base for Solid-state Brewing, and the National Engineering Practice Education Center for Solid-state Brewing.

The school offers state-of-the-art learning environments, with around 30,000 square meters of buildings dedicated to student research and instruction. Over the past few years, it has undertaken more than 20 teaching reform projects at all levels, published more than 10 textbooks, undertaken more than 300 research projects, chaired more than 80 national and provincial projects, authorized more than 40 patents, and won 12 provincial-level scientific and technological progress awards. In addition, it has approved the "Double First-class" construction Gongga plan B class of Sichuan Provincial University of Education and built a national advanced food and liquor pilot base. The "Chuanli Baijiu series," a significant research achievement, has been effectively industrialized, resulting in the development of multiple trademarks, such as "Chuanli 652," "Chuanli Huanglingchun," "Chuanli Yangfan Qianli," and "Chuanli Yuanmeng," with sales of over 10 million yuan, which has generated positive social and economic effects.
