The School of Education and Psychological Sciences originated from the educational psychology teaching and research section of Zigong Higher Normal College in 1984. In 2003, the Department of Education of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering was established. In 2017, the School of Education and Psychological Sciences of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering was established. In 2020, the School of Teacher Training of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering was established and cooperated with the School of Education and Psychological Sciences.

The school currently has 55 faculty members, including 6 professors (including part-time professors), 9 associate professors (including other associate high school), 23 doctors (including PhD students) and 26 masters' supervisors (including part-time supervisors). The school has one academic and technical leader of Sichuan Province, two talents of the Sichuan Thousand Talents Program, and four members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Colleges and Universities of Sichuan Province.

The school currently has two undergraduate majors, preschool education and applied psychology. Among them, preschool education is the first-class undergraduate program construction site in Sichuan Province, and applied psychology is the first-class undergraduate program at the school level. The school has two first-class disciplines, pedagogy and psychology. In 2012, it began to enroll master students in the direction of “institutional research and education management”. In 2016, it obtained the right to grant the professional degree of "master of education". The college enrolled masters in vocational and technical education in 2017, masters in preschool education in 2018, and masters in mental health education in 2021. By December 2022, there will be more than 1500 undergraduates, postgraduates and international students in the college, and the average annual employment rate of graduates will exceed 90%.

The school has established an experimental center, with Montessori educational office, emotional catharsis room, piano room, practice room, Microteaching classroom, teaching method simulation laboratory, psychological counseling room, psychological evaluation room, eye movement laboratory and other laboratories. The school has three first-class undergraduate courses in Sichuan province, two ideological and political demonstration courses in Sichuan province, one excellent resource sharing course in Sichuan province, and two excellent courses in Sichuan Province. The school has successively won one first prize, two second prizes, one third prize for higher education teaching achievements in Sichuan Province, and one third prize for general education achievements in Sichuan Province.

The school has two high-level research teams of Social Sciences in Sichuan Province, including the research team for the transformation and development of local undergraduate colleges and the research team for the collaborative innovation and international communication of culture in southern Sichuan (including one backup), the Sichuan-Chongqing Institute of Education Development and Evaluation, two municipal and departmental scientific research institutions, the Research Center for the Development of Vocational Education and the Research Center for the Development of Preschool Aesthetic Education in southern Sichuan, the Research Institute for Basic Education in southern Sichuan, and the Research Institute for Mental Health Education. SUSE’s Institute of Higher Education is affiliated with the School of Education and Psychological Sciences.

In recent years, the school has won more than 100 projects at the national, provincial, ministerial and municipal levels. Members of the school have been engaged in educational research, more than 200 papers have been published in various journals and newspapers such as Journal of Higher Educational Research, Journal of the Chinese Society of Education, Curriculum, Teaching Material and Teaching Methods, Tsinghua Journal of Education, Journal of the National Academy of Education Administration, Studies in Preschool Education, and more than 10 papers have been reprinted and duplicated by Xinhua digest and China Social Science Excellence. It has published more than 10 academic works in People's Publishing House, China Social Sciences Press and other publishers at all levels. The school has successively won 25 social science achievement awards at the municipal, department level and above, including 1 provincial and ministerial first prize, 3 second prizes and 1 third prize.
