This major aims at cultivating the students with a good foundation in mathematics, statistics and economics, proficiency in basic theories, basic skills and professional knowledge of applied statistics in computer, programming and related disciplines, proficiency in data processing, statistical analysis and forecasting methods using mainstream statistical software, basic mastery of the fundamentals of big data processing, data mining and modern information technology, and proficiency in applying the knowledge gained in data processing and statistical analysis on engineering practice and statistical survey data for data processing and statistical analysis.
