The National Language Promotion Base (Sichuan University of Science & Engineering) was approved as an "Inheritance and Promotion" base by the Ministry of Education in 2021. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, the Base implements the language policies of the Party and the state in the new era, and inherits and carries forward the spirit of Wu Yuzhang's language reform, with the aim of promoting the use of standard spoken and written Chinese language and consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation. It takes the responsibility of assisting rural revitalization and serving the international spread of Chinese civilization, and fully leverages its location advantages and basic conditions as it is located in the center of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, and Guizhou. Its goal is to become a national language promotion base based in south Sichuan, serving Sichuan, radiating southwest China, and facing the world.   

A well-structured, experienced management team as well as an inheritance and promotion team have been assembled for the Base. There are 10 language experts and scholars from Sichuan University of Science & Engineering, 5 national-level Putonghua testers, 15 provincial-level testers, and 18 language and culture scholars and communication talents. In Huidong, Yibin, and Libaihe campuses, dedicated work spaces for the Base have been built, covering an area of over 3,000 square meters, and the equipment and facilities are worth more than RMB 2.8 million.
