As one of the sub activities of the 2019 Lancang-Mekong Week, the Lancang-Mekong Regional Dialogue Education Cooperation Forum, hosted by the People's Government of Yibin City, was held from March 21 to 23 in Yibin. The Lancang-Mekong Regional Dialogue and Higher Education Cooperation Forum, jointly organized by SUSE and Yibin University, was held on March 22. Higher education experts from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam gathered at the conference to discuss the development of higher education, jointly build higher education platforms, and share higher education achievements.
As one of the conference hosts, Tuo Xianguo, the president of SUSE, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Promoting International Education Cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong Region with the Combination of Research and Learning, Integration of Industry and Education, and Characteristic Development" under “the Belt and Road” Initiative.
At the meeting, 12 guests from the six countries of Lancang-Mekong Region gave wonderful keynote speeches. Experts closely focused on the theme of the forum, analyzed the characteristics and future trends of higher education development in the region, outlined the conceptual blueprint of the cooperation framework for higher education in the region, explored the mechanisms and paths of higher education promoting scientific and technological innovation in the region, and shared research results on higher education serving the sustainable development of green economy in the region and cultivating international talents in the new era.
