School of Marxism of Sichuan University of Science & Engineering(SUSE) was founded in 2011. Previously known as School of Political Science before 2016, the school acquired its present name in April 2016. It mainly undertakes the teaching of ideological and political theory courses for graduate, undergraduate, and vocational students throughout SUSE.

The School of Marxism has one Party Secretary, one Dean, one Deputy Party Secretary and one Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and two Deputy Deans. It contains 5 administration offices which are the Party and Government Office, Organizational Work Office, Academic Affairs Office, and Student Affairs Office and Office of Discipline and Graduate Affairs, 7 teaching and research sections which respectively deal with Ideology Morality and Rule of Law, Outline of Modern Chinese History, Basic Principles of Marxism, Survey of Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Survey of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Ideological and Political Education, and Situation and Policy, 3 research centers which are Grassroots Integrity Construction Research Center, Party Building Innovation Research Center, Marxism Sinicization and Traditional Chinese Culture Research Center, 1 research platform and 1 research platform in preparation which is affiliated to the School of New Era Civilization Practice.

The School of Marxism currently has 90 faculty members, including 10 with senior professional titles, 18 with deputy senior professional titles, 22 lecturers, 23 with doctoral degrees, 54 with master's degrees, and 8 with PhD in progress. The faculty members have received honorary titles such as “Excellent Teacher”, “Teaching Master”, “Outstanding Communist Party Member”, and “My Favorite Good Teacher”, published over 20 books of various types and over 200 papers in authoritative journals, led over 100 research projects at or above the department level. Dozens of scientific research achievements have been awarded by the Sichuan Provincial Government, Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Zigong Municipal Government.

The School of Marxism has currently 500 undergraduates majoring in ideological and political education, and 55 graduate students majoring in ideological and political subject teaching. In recent years, the graduate admission rate for the School’s undergraduates has been nearly 20%, passing rate of CET-4 65%, passing rate of vocational qualification certificates 90%, employment rate 98%, which have successfully achieved the SUSE’s talent cultivation goal of “11258”.

The School of Marxism revolves around the educational philosophy of student success. According to the demand for talent in social development, it regularly adjusts the training plan, carefully arranges the curriculum and teaching staff, and actively encourages students to take postgraduate entrance exam and provides convenience for them. The School adheres to the concept of being based in Sichuan, facing the west, and serving the whole country, and strives to create a distinctive and high-level Marxism School.
