Peng Yan is a professor with doctor degree, a master's supervisor, and an outstanding innovator in Zigong. Currently, he is the Director of the Engineering Practice Center at Sichuan University of Science & Engineering and a member of various academic and governmental committees. His research focused on computer applications, IoT, and intelligent information processing. He has published over 90 academic papers, authored three textbooks, and two popular science books, led nine national and provincial projects, 30  municipal and lateral research projects, and held 32 national patents (including eight inventions) and six software copyrights. He has won two third prizes in Sichuan Provincial Teaching Achievements.
