Computer Science and Technology
This major is a project of the Ministry of Education's "Industry-University Cooperation and Collaborative Education". The school-level characteristic major has set up three professional directions including embedded systems, software development, and artificial intelligence. It aims to train students to master the basic theory of computer science, the knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and applications, master software development technology, computer application technology, embedded system development and application, and mobile development technology, and receive good training in engineering practice, project development, and management, and have good foreign language application skills.
Career Prospects: Graduates can engage in computer software and hardware technology development, computer system integration and operation and maintenance, computer information management and decision support, office automation, computer detection and control, embedded system development, mobile technology development, artificial intelligence application development, and information technology direction education and teaching, etc.
Internet of Things Engineering
The Internet of Things Engineering major at Sichuan University of Science & Engineering began undergraduate enrollment in 2012 and is a first-class major at the university level. This major is aimed at the development needs of the country’s strategic emerging industries, to fully develop students. It cultivates the students with high moral character and scientific and cultural quality, a sense of independent learning and a broad international perspective, the basic knowledge of natural sciences and computer disciplines, systematically the basic theory of the Internet of Things, design methods, and implementation technology, can solve complex engineering problems and comprehensive innovation ability, has a sense of home and country, and can adapt to the international competition environment.
Career Prospects: The high-quality compound senior engineering and technical personnel trained by this major can work in the domestic and foreign information industry and other industries to engage in the research, design, development, operation, management, etc., of the Internet of Things and related systems, and have the ability to continue to study and develop continuously.
Network Engineering
The Network Engineering major was established in 2005 and was selected as a school, provincial, and national level “Outstanding Engineer Program” from 2011 to 2013. In 2019 and 2022, it was selected as a “First-Class Undergraduate Major” construction site in Sichuan Province and the country. Over the past eighteen years, it has trained more than 1600 undergraduate graduates in Network Engineering. Graduates are widely active in enterprises, government departments, universities, and other industries, and they engaged in network technology applications, network planning and design, network security services, and development and research in related fields, making important contributions to the economic and social construction and development of Sichuan and even the western region. The characteristic of this major is to cooperate closely with the industry and enterprises, introduce advanced equipment, certification systems, teaching resources, and teaching concepts from the industry, and realize the organic connection between the industry and enterprise talent demand and professional talent training. With information security as the characteristic training direction of the Network Engineering major, this major has set up a top talent training class for Network Engineering (Information Security Direction) to train top talents in network security. The Network Engineering major has advanced experimental equipment and owns a CTF competition laboratory, a password laboratory, etc.
Career prospects: Graduates can work in government agencies, banks, finance, securities, and communication fields to engage in the security planning and design, operation and maintenance, management, and service of various systems; they can also work in the IT field to engage in the research, design, development, operation and maintenance, and system maintenance of application software or network technology.
Software Engineering
The Software Engineering program has been enrolling students since 2005 and is currently a first-tier admission major. This program is oriented towards the economic development and societal informatization needs of the Sichuan-Chongqing region. It aims to cultivate well-rounded individuals with a solid theoretical foundation in software engineering and strong engineering practical abilities. Graduates are capable of comprehensively applying knowledge from mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, and software engineering to model, analyze, design, and implement complex software engineering problems. They are qualified to work in engineering and technical roles such as software project planning, system analysis, design, development, and management. The graduates possess excellent humanistic qualities, professional ethics, and teamwork spirit, along with the ability for lifelong learning and self-improvement. They are adaptable to societal development and possess an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, contributing as key personnel to enterprises and institutions.
