Introduction to Majors

Chemistry

Chemistry is a discipline with fundamental core position in natural science and innovative prospects. It is an independent system to explore the internal laws of material composition, structure, properties and transformation, and it’s also an important scientific foundation and growth point of life, chemical industry, medicine, materials, energy, environment and other related disciplines.

Chemistry is a key discipline of the university. It relies on the platform of Chenguang High Performance Fluorine Materials Innovation Centre, Sichuan Key Laboratory of Corrosion and Protection, and Sichuan Key Laboratory of Green Catalysis for Universities to cultivate postgraduates. The degree program focuses on the national strategic needs, regional economic development needs and the frontier issues of the discipline, condensing the discipline direction, setting up four discipline directions of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and green catalysis, focusing on organic synthesis, artificial enzyme catalysis, photocatalysis/electrocatalysis, functional materials, medicinal chemistry, green chemistry and other fields to carry out characteristic researches.

 

Resources and Environment

The Resources and Environment major is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive discipline that focuses on  the development, utilization, conservation and management of natural resources, as well as the prevention, control and management of environmental problems. The major covers a number of subject areas, such as geography, environmental science and engineering, ecology, civil engineering, chemical engineering, materials science and geology.   

The Resources and Environment program gives full play to the advantages of our traditional advantages in light industry and chemical industry, showing obvious light industry and chemical industry characteristics. It mainly includes several major fields such as wastewater, solid waste treatment and resourcing, environmental functional materials, and environmental impact assessment, etc., among which chemical wastewater, solid waste treatment and resourcing, and new energy material synthesis have gradually become the advantageous development directions of this major. In the chemical phosphorus wastewater resources, industrial saline wastewater "zero discharge", mine tailings resource use, industrial by-product gypsum treatment and resource use and beneficiation, and other research directions have been greatly developed, forming a more complete professional content.
