Chemistry
The program started to enroll students in 1978, and has established a high starting point of basic and applied research platforms - the Key Laboratory of Green Catalysis of Sichuan Universities, the Institute of Functional Materials, and the Institute of Energetic Substances, and some of the achievements have reached the advanced level in China, which has a higher academic status in the province in the similar disciplines. It has a master's degree in the first-level discipline of Chemistry. In 2022, chemistry has been ranked among the top 1% of ESI global ranking and the subject list of US News 2023 World Universities, and the Chemistry has been selected as the provincial first-class professional construction point. The undergraduate and master degree graduates are engaged in technology development, teaching, enterprise production and operation in scientific research institutes, schools, enterprises and institutions, etc., and have won the general praise of employers.
Environmental Engineering
This program started enrollment in 2002, for the provincial first-class professional construction point, Sichuan Province, the excellent engineer education training program professional, and has a master's degree in resources and environment. There are scientific research platforms such as "Collaborative Innovation Center for Resourceful Treatment of Industrial Organic Solid Waste", "National Engineering Research Center for Urban Wastewater Treatment and Resourcefulness, South Sichuan Branch", "Light and Chemical Industry Solid Waste Resourcefulness Research Institute", etc., and the professional internship practice bases have been set up with a number of off-campus enterprises, which provide effective guarantee for the cultivation of high-quality and complex talents who are equipped with the professional theories and technologies of environmental planning and protection, environmental monitoring and testing, pollutant prevention and control, and resourceful utilization of wastes, and who are equipped with the concepts of sustainable development and recycling economy as well as a sense of social responsibility, innovative and entrepreneurial ability, and the ability to engage in engineering practice.
Safety Engineering
This program started enrollment in 2004, and has a provincial teaching demonstration center--Chemical Safety Emergency Rescue Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, which is a first-class professional cultivation point at school level. Relying on this program, the School of Emergency and Safety has been established as an industrial college. Safety engineering is a comprehensive and cross-discipline involving science, engineering, literature, law, management and other disciplines, and is a new discipline developed according to the major needs of national economic construction, social development and the development trend of international safety science and technology. The Safety Engineering major of our university focuses on chemical safety, building safety and mechanical safety, master the basic theories, professional knowledge and professional skills of safety management and technology, safety evaluation and occupational health, etc., and cultivate high-quality applied and interdisciplinary talents with multi-disciplinary practice ability, adaptability and innovative spirit.
Fire Engineering
This program began enrollment in 2023, belongs to the public security technology category, the state control of the distribution of professional, our school is the third university in Sichuan Province being approved to offer fire engineering teaching program. Relying on this program, the university and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development have jointly established the Petrochemical and Light Industry Fire Engineering Technology Research Center, which strongly promotes the construction of the fire engineering program. Fire Engineering is a comprehensive discipline integrating natural science and social humanities disciplines. The program mainly trains students to master the basic knowledge of mathematics, natural science and engineering, and the basic theories of fire protection engineering technology and fire safety management; to have the professional skills of hazard identification, fire prevention design and fire protection design, fire evaluation, fire protection engineering management and accident prevention research in the field of construction; and to have the composite and applied specialized technical talents with the concepts of sustainable development, teamwork, lifelong learning, and the ability of communication and exchange.
