Introduction to Majors

Nuclear Engineering and Technology

This program carries the initial national defense mission of Sichuan University of Science and Engineering at its founding and has consistently focused on national strategic needs and the direction of discipline development. It aims to address new requirements in national defense, nuclear energy, and nuclear technology applications. The major is oriented towards solving scientific and technological problems in China's nuclear industry, breaking through major bottlenecks in the independent development and application of nuclear instruments and instrumentation, achieving independent development of key technologies, devices, and equipment in the field of nuclear science and technology, cultivating applied talents, and emphasizing the fusion of cutting-edge fundamentals and interdisciplinary disciplines.

Electronic Information

Electronic information engineering is developed on the basis of the original radio technology major, after nearly 30 years of development, has established a multi-level education structure, including the undergraduate major in Electronic Information Engineering and the Master's degree program with a specialization in Electronic Information (Optoelectronic Information Engineering). Currently, there are more than 700 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. There are specialized laboratories such as the EDA Technology Laboratory, Microcontroller Laboratory, ARM Embedded Laboratory, Electronic Engineering Training Laboratory, PCB Fabrication Laboratory, and Electronic System Design Innovation Laboratory, etc., which provides an important guarantee for the development of the major and essential resources for fostering students' practical and innovative capabilities.

Applied Physics

The undergraduate program in Applied Physics has been admitting students since 2003. It is designated as a "First-class Undergraduate Program" cultivation and construction point within the university, enrolling 60 students annually. The major focuses on learning the fundamental concepts, principles, and thought processes of physics. Students are inquired to undergo substantial training in mathematical foundations, experimental skills, applied basic research, technology development, and engineering technology. Graduates are expected to possess a strong scientific literacy, the ability to update their knowledge, and a broad scientific adaptability. The major emphasis on cultivating innovation and practical skills, particularly in the field of optoelectronic technology, materials, and their applications. The training approach integrates foundational training, comprehensive design training, professional training, and innovative training across different levels, creating a modularized system for innovative practical teaching. Students will graduates with the basic physic knowledge, the capacity for knowledge expansion, practical application, research, or the development of new technologies. These skills are in demand by the local economic development and national defense industry.
