Delegation from the Confucius institute at Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, visits SUSE

On the morning of November 20, 2025, a delegation from the Confucius Institute at Federal University of Ceará, Brazil visited Sichuan University of Science & Engineering (SUSE). The delegation was led by Mr. Raimundo Nonato Moura Furtado, the Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute, and Professor Ru Ning, the Chinese Director from Nankai University. They were received by Mr. Luo Huibo, Standing Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of SUSE, at the Li Baihe campus, where both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on deepening international cooperation.

Earlier this year, SUSE signed an official international cooperation agreement with the Federal University of Ceará, covering academic exchange, talent development, and research collaboration. The purpose of the visit was to accelerate the implementation of ongoing collaborative initiatives. Vice President Luo provided a comprehensive overview of SUSE’s history, disciplinary strengths, and current progress. He emphasized the university's strong commitment to advancing international Chinese language education and noted that SUSE is applying to the Language Cooperation and Exchange Center under the Ministry of Education to establish a "Chinese+” program in Brazil.

During their stay, the delegation hosted a special information session titled “Study at Federal University of Ceará” for students majoring in Portuguese at SUSE. Mr. Furtado gave a dynamic presentation supported by videos and live explanations, introducing the academic environment, scholarship policies, and cultural experiences at his university. The session sparked strong interest among the students, and was followed by a lively and engaging Q&A exchange.

The visit was also attended by Ms. Li Yongmei, Director of the Office of International Cooperation; Mr. Fu Qingshan, Deputy Director of the Office; and Mr. Cai Zhaoliang, a faculty member from the Portuguese Teaching and Research Section of the School of Foreign Languages.
