International students from SUSE showcase cross-cultural appeal with “Special Participation Award” at the 2025 National College Baijiu Tasting Skills Competition

On October 17, the final round of the “Moutai Prince Cup” 2025 National College Baijiu Tasting Skills Competition wrapped up in Wuhan. Jointly organized by the China Alcoholic Drinks Association and Kweichow Moutai Jiangxiangjiu Marketing Co., Ltd., the event brought together more than 200 contestants from 47 universities across 12 regional divisions. Representing the Sichuan division were teams from five local institutions, including Sichuan University of Science & Engineering(SUSE), Sichuan Agricultural University, and Sichuan Vocational and Technical College for Industry and Commerce. A highlight of the event was the participation of six SUSE international students from Russia and Equatorial Guinea.

The contest featured two core segments, a written test on baijiu-related knowledge and a practical tasting assessment. Both of them were designed in accordance with the China’s National Occupational Standards for Baijiu Tasters. After a full day of competition, the international students from SUSE not only acquired a deeper understanding of China’s traditional brewing workmanship, but also felt deeply honored to receive the Special Participation Award. They expressed their hope for more opportunities to explore Chinese baijiu culture in the future, and to introduce this unique aspect of China’s cultural heritage to their home countries.

By taking part in this event, the international students gained firsthand exposure to Chinese baijiu culture, while lending the competition a fresh, global perspective. Their involvement thus served as a vivid example of cultural exchange and mutual learning.
