To foster international cultural exchange and contribute to Yibin’s goal of becoming a world-class tourism destination, five international students from Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan at Sichuan University of Science & Engineering (SUSE) joined the activity “International Students’ National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Tour in Yibin” from September 28 to 29. The program was guided and coordinated by the Yibin Talent and University Town Affairs Office and organized by the Yibin Culture, Tourism, and Exhibition Group.

Under the theme “A Global Mid-Autumn in Yibin” international students from SUSE participated as global student representatives in the promotional launch of the China Giant Panda Park, held within the scenic Shunan Bamboo Sea.

They explored traditional bamboo-weaving craftsmanship, tasted local bamboo-tube rice, and witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the Panda Park before touring its facilities in groups. BAUYRZHAN DIAS, a student from Kazakhstan, remarked in an interview: “This is the perfect combination of Yibin’s Bamboo Sea and the beloved giant pandas. As one of the first international students to witness the park’s opening, I’m thrilled that from now on, we’ll have the opportunity to encounter China’s national treasure, the giant panda, right here in Yibin. It’s a great honor to participate in the ceremony, and I hope to further contribute to cultural exchange between China and the world in the future.”

As an integral part of international talent cultivation, SUSE consistentlyincorporates “Experiencing China” into its education for students studying in China. By strengthening understanding, friendship, and affection for China, the university encourages international students to become active storytellers of Chinese culture. This event not only offered them a valuable window into Yibin but also helped to showcase the city globally through their international perspectives—advancing meaningful cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations.
