To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a series of commemorative and educational events under the theme “Together on the Path of Friendship Toward Peace” took place from September 17 to 20 across Sichuan Province. Co-organized by the Sichuan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the foreign affairs offices of Chengdu, Zigong, and Yibin, the program brought together 50 international teachers and students alongside outstanding youth representatives in Sichuan. Foreign participants, who study or work at Sichuan Agricultural University, Sichuan Normal University, Sichuan University of Science & Engineering and Chengdu University come from 20 countries including Russia, France, Vietnam, South Korea, Pakistan, Algeria, and Brazil. Through an immersive itinerary across three cities of Chengdu, Zigong,and Yibin, the initiative promoted a multidimensional peace education model—one that draws inspiration from history, fosters dialogue between civilizations, and strengthens people-to-people ties among youth from different nations.

During the four-day journey, the delegation explored key sites within the Jianchuan Museum Complex in Chengdu, including the National Backbone Hall, Memorial Hall of the Sichuan Army in China’s War of Resistance Against Japan, Flying Tigers Memorial Hall, Chinese Warriors Sculpture Square, the Veterans’ Handprint Plaza, and International Supporters Plaza, where they traced the epic history of the Eastern Front of the World Anti-Fascist War, deepened their understanding of the unyielding spirit demonstrated by the Chinese people in the War of Resistance, and further recognized the shared commitment of China and the international community to upholding global peace.

In Zigong, the delegation visited the Salt Industry History Museum, the still‑operational Shenhai Well, and the Lantern Museum. After that, the delegation went to Lizhuang Ancient Town and the Zhao Yiman Memorial Hall in Yibin. The focus shifted to the critical industrial backbone and the extraordinary grassroots resilience that sustained China during the war years. Through these encounters, participants gained a multidimensional historical perspective on the collective determination that shaped that era.

In an era of unprecedented global challenges, the younger generation bears a vital responsibility to safeguard the hard-won peace of the world and defend international fairness and justice. Youth from China and around the world jointly expressed their commitment to mutual learning and understanding, promoting exchanges and cooperation and advancing common development among all peoples. Together they pledged to become advocates of the vision of peace, actors for peaceful development, and contributors of youthful energy toward a future of enduring peace and shared prosperity for humanity.
