On the evening of June 11th, to mark World Portuguese Language Day and deepen Sino-Brazilian cultural exchanges, Sichuan University of Science & Engineering successfully held a concert of Brazilian piano works at the Yandu Concert Hall. Brazilian pianist Duval Sessetti performed alongside teachers and students from SUSE. Deputy Consul General Carla Rosane Zorio Chelotti of the Consulate General of Brazil in Chengdu, Vice President Luo Huibo, along with heads of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the College of Music, the College of Foreign Languages, as well as faculty, student representatives, and Brazilian students in Sichuan jointly attended the event.

Vice President Luo Huibo delivered a speech thanking the Consulate General of Brazil in Chengdu for its long-term support. He emphasized SUSE’s commitment to the philosophy of open education and mutually beneficial cooperation, continuously promoting academic exchanges, faculty and student visits, and scientific research collaboration with Brazilian universities. He proposed to further deepen educational and cultural exchanges between China and Brazil and expand cooperation platforms in the future. Deputy Consul General Carla highly affirmed the important role SUSE plays in Portuguese language teaching and Sino-Brazilian people-to-people exchanges, stressed the significance of cultural bonds, and expressed anticipation for both sides to further enhance understanding and friendship.

At the concert, Duval Sessetti performed classic Brazilian piano pieces such as “Bailado” and “Sonatina”; students from the Portuguese language program recited the poem “Tecendo a Manhã” and sang the chorus “Valsa da Lua”; students from the College of Music performed “Spring River Flower Moon Night”. The joint performance of “The Farming Scenery of Tianfu” by the Cactus Choir and Duval then brought the atmosphere to its climax.

This concert was not only an artistic feast but also an important practice for SUSE to expand international exchanges. In the future, SUSE will continue to deepen cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries in talent cultivation, academic research, and cultural fields, contributing to the construction of a high-level comprehensive university with distinct characteristics and outstanding advantages.
