To enhance international students’ understanding of Chinese history and culture, the International Education College of SUSE organized an educational trip on April 15, in which over one hundred international students from 15 countries paid a visit to Lizhuang Ancient Town in Yibin, known as “the first town on the Yangtze River”.

Under the guidance of faculty members, the international students visited the  Anti-Japanese War Museum of Lizhuang. Through valuable cultural relics and audiovisual materials, they have learned about the glorious and memorable times of Lizhuang as one of cultural centers during the periods of anti-Japanese war, which  demonstrate the perseverance and fighting spirit of the Chinese people. Here they also have been touched by those touching stories of scholars like Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin, who worked to preserve China's cultural heritage.

In the afternoon, the students explored Lizhuang Ancient Street independently, visiting the well-preserved architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties, tasting local specialties such as Lizhuang white cake, and experiencing the folk customs of Southern Sichuan. 

After the trip, as a key part of the China Cultural Week organized by the International Education College, the international students will write their cultural reports based on their observations. In the future such kinds of cultural activities will be continued to help the international students to understand the real China in a multi-dimensional way.
