On March 23, international students and faculty advisors from SUSE attended the summary and showcase of the Sixth Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Interpretation Contest and the launch Ceremony of the Seventh Contest, held at Southwest University.

As an award-winning representative of international students, PCHELIN EVGENY (Renya), a Russian student from the College of Computer Science and Engineering at SUSE, received the award on stage. Together with his instructor, he also shared the story behind Moonlight over China. He noted that reciting Chinese classics not only deepened his understanding of Chinese culture but also enabled him to appreciate the enduring charm of classical works. According to him, Chinese classics transcend linguistic and cultural boundaries, allowing international learners to experience the richness and profundity of Chinese culture through recitation.

The SUSE-recommended performance Moonlight over China was jointly presented by international students GINDULLINA ROZALINA (Meigui), SIVILAI SINGKEO (Wang Tianhe), MAKSAROVA SAMANDI (Xiangling), SAEPHAN MEUYLIEO (Muli), and PCHELIN EVGENY (Renya). Through expressive language and emotional delivery, the performance portrayed a tranquil and harmonious China under the moonlight, conveying international students’ affection for and understanding of Chinese culture. The work was awarded the National Third Prize in the “Reciting China” category of the Sixth Chinese Classics Recitation Contest.

The summary and launch event was hosted by the Department of Language Application and Administration of the Ministry of Education, organized by the Executive Committee of the Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Interpretation Contest (Language Press), and co-organized by China Education Television, the Center for Educational Technology and Resource Development of the Ministry of Education, the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and the National Language Promotion Base (Southwest University). More than 800 participants, including officials from provincial language authorities, expert judges, and award-winning teachers and students, attended the event.

With the Seventh Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Interpretation Contest officially launched, the International Education College of SUSE will continue to support international students’ participation in Chinese classics activities, contributing to enhanced exchange and mutual understanding between China and other countries.
